Golden leopard style was created by the famous warrior Ling Shié of the Sung Dynasty.

One of the most feared styles- it is based upon high-speed striking of pressure points in a "formula" series of 5,6 ,7.  From Ching Pau Chien we also learn to quickly convert fist methods in an incredible array and stances and energies.

"Quick as a (whirlwind) hurricane; even quicker than lightning"

There are two basic types of Leopards: the spotted golden- leopards and the black leopards [also known as black panthers]. The black leopard is the same species as the normal golden-colored leopard, differing only in the gene for melanism, or black coloration. In addition to the regular golden-spotted and the black leopards, there are rare breeds such as the Clouded Leopard [which live in the rain forests of tropical Asia] and the beautiful white Snow Leopard [uncommon and rarely seen in their extreme habitat of the mountains of central Asia]. Panthers are great athletes. They can leap up to 8 meters and as high as 3½ meters. Panther's neck and shoulders are highly developed.

Amur Leopard “Far Eastern” leopard (Panthera pardus orientalis) Manchurian leopard, Korean leopard

The most endangered large cat in the world South of the Far East-Primorskii region (Russian Far East), Tzilin, Heilundzyan Provinces (Northern China).

Of all the leopard subspecies, the Amur wears the most interesting coat. This is reddish-yellow in summer, becoming pale cream during the winter months. It varies in length from 2.5 cm to 7.5 cm, depending upon the time of year and weather conditions.

Across the back, flanks and upper limbs are widely spaced rosettes which are darker at the centre and have thick borders. Small spots appear on the head, becoming larger on the legs and abdomen.

This rare subspecies lives in the temperate forests and harsh winters of the Russian Far East. The subspecies is easily distinguished by its long winter coat and large rosettes. It is said to have longer legs, perhaps as an adaptation for walking through snow. Many specialists consider it to be the most beautiful of the leopards. It certainly is a remarkable large cat, in some ways reminiscent of the snow leopard.

The Amur leopard is on the brink of extinction. Recognized as one of eight leopard subspecies it is named for the Amur River that forms much of the border between China and Russia. In the sixties and seventies the Amur leopard was still found in considerable numbers in former Manchuria, the Korean peninsula and in the southern part of Primorye in the Russian Far East. Nowadays the cat is restricted to a small patch of habitat in Southeast Russia along the Chinese and Korean borders, and no more than forty individuals survive.

These are extremely agile cats that can jump vertically up to 10 feet and double this length horizontally. Pound for pound they are 10 times as strong as humans, successfully carrying prey 3 times their own weight into the branches. This protects their food from other predators, including the main subject of this Web site, the tiger. Once a meal is finished the leopard is quite capable of descending a tree head first.
