Bodhidharma did not teach a certain system of meditation, but breathing and meditativeness, which could be taken into life's daily activities with the strong faith that this practice would lead to the enlightened state of mind.

At the Shaolin monastery courtyards complex Bodhidharma introduced a series of 49 ancient Prajna yogic exercises, known now known as the I-Chin-Ching (Yi Jin Jing) or Muscle/Sinew Change Classic, to strengthen the monks mentally and physically.
