The Pa Kua broadsword is not usually used to chop but to slice, using the whipping power of the back to peel away the flesh from arms, to strike with the handle, and to slice across the wrists, shoulders, and back with the help of the unusual and deceptive footwork unique to Ba Gua Zhang.

Liu Zhiqing performs the Bagua Broadsword. Liu Zhiqing was from Gu'an County in Hebei and studied Bagua with Liu Baozhen (disciple of Dong Hai Chuan). Liu Zhiqing was in his early 100's in this video.
